This guide covers how to set up your practice on Briefcase — from first login to inviting your team and clients, connecting ledgers, and uploading documents.
We recommend watching our demo video here first:📄 Introduction
What is Briefcase?
Briefcase is an AI-native bookkeeping platform that captures invoices and receipts, categorises to your client’s chart of accounts, and supports VAT compliance — integrated with Xero and QuickBooks. Briefcase also automates prepayments as part of its financial close module.
How do I setup my firm?
You will receive an invite link to join your newly created organisation as an Admin.
To add a client entity, select "Add client" in the dashboard, followed by Xero or Quickbooks. You will then be diverted to your ledger and prompted to allow Briefcase access to that client.
To add colleagues and client users, open Settings → Organisation → Team and follow how to invite team members and clients.
How do I upload documents?
See our document upload guides for supported document types and upload options.
For clients sending receipts from their phones, see How to upload receipts and invoices to Briefcase via WhatsApp. For batches of photos or pages of one invoice, see How to upload multiple pictures or merge a multi-page invoice on WhatsApp.
