# How do I correct a prepayment schedule after journals have posted?

How do I correct a prepayment schedule after journals have posted?. Once a schedule has started posting, you can't change the dates of periods that have.

Once a schedule has started posting, you can't change the dates of periods that have already posted. To correct it:

1.  **Archive** the schedule. Briefcase posts reversing journals for every period that has already posted.

2.  Find the schedule in the archive and **unarchive** it. It returns to review.

3.  Update the dates and publish again.

Prepaying something that is used in a single month, such as flights, where the expense should only be released in that month? Change the schedule type to **One off** and set the start date to when you paid and the end date to the month it's used.
